Start with the deliverable
Investigate Runway when a generated clip must move through an existing editing pipeline. Evaluate Everygen when the first requirement is its short-form workflow and shared media tools.
Can the clip move into your actual editor without an extra conversion or relinking step?
Compare documented workflows
| Dimension | Everygen | Runway |
|---|---|---|
| Public focus | Short-form media workflows and model selection; see the video guide. | Runway lists generation, video editing, node-based workflows and plugins for Premiere Pro/After Effects. |
| Model access | Check the exact variant and your plan entitlement. | Check the exact variant and your plan entitlement. |
| Finishing the job | Inspect product identity, sound and final export. | Can the clip move into your actual editor without an extra conversion or relinking step? |

Runway also advertises MCP. Do not choose Everygen solely on an assumption that the alternative cannot connect to an assistant.
Work out the usable-result cost
Runway Standard lists $15 monthly with 625 credits; its Gen-4.5 example is 60 credits for five seconds. Allocating the full monthly price gives $1.44 per attempt, or $2.88 for two attempts. This uses Gen-4.5, not a matched Everygen model, and excludes unused-credit effects. Do not treat it as an equivalent-quality or cheapest-provider result.
effective result cost = all generation spending / accepted outputs
For subscription allocations, state whether you assume every included credit is consumed. Count annual upfront commitments, expiring unused credits and top-ups separately. Different providers’ credit counts do not have a shared monetary value.
Use the Everygen retry-aware calculator as one side of the worksheet.
A comparison you can reproduce
Prepare one clean product still, generate a five-second reveal, revise its background, then move the clip into the editor you really use. Record each export and handoff step.
| Record | What to capture |
|---|---|
| Inputs | The same brief, owned references and target deliverable. |
| Settings | Model label, duration, resolution, audio and any mismatches. |
| All attempts | Quote, actual spending, elapsed time, errors and rejected outputs. |
| Acceptance | If exporting/revising the shot takes more time than creating it, track that extra work as part of the workflow cost. |
